Poor Silicon Valley might have to hire Americans, God forbid, people over 35!

A new report screams and cries on how foreigners are not flooding the region in 2009.

Associated Press:

Silicon Valley is no longer able to attract the foreign talent which has been its "lifeblood" and funding innovation through locally raised venture capital and public offerings "can no longer be taken as a given," the report said.

"With increasing global partnerships, Silicon Valley grows ever more dependent on foreign talent -- particularly for filling science and engineering positions," the report said.

"However, the actions of our nation in the wake of 9/11 and the rise of other global regions have made Silicon Valley less accessible and less attractive than it once was," it said.

"Inflows from China and India continue to rise, as does investment and collaboration between the Valley and those two nations, but China and India are both experiencing rapid economic growth," the report said. "As they do, opportunities in those countries will slow the flow of talent here."

Just absurd. The reality is they are laying people off and venture capital investments are way down.

Bummer they screwed over all of those Americans by offshore outsourcing their jobs and firing them. Assuredly some would have invented the next innovation.

But it's just astounding how the area believes all things must be imported, especially labor and the lack of focus on the conditions which create innovation and successful start-ups....which history shows most were Americans. Coming over on a boat at age 3 to the states does not quite count as being a foreigner either.

The report also notes the great rich-poor divide in the area.
