The Need to Discredit The Law

When it comes to illegal immigration, the Democrats have been dead wrong (on visas, both parties are in-the-wrong). This was the reason that I am now an independent progressive instead of a Democratic progressive. Things have changed a lot over my lifetime. When I was young, patriotism (also known as love of country) was a cherished trait. Today the word is used as a perjorative, often in conjunction with the word zealot. If you stand up for your country, you are now a nut.

I view efforts to reign in illegal immigration as an application of the rule of law for both reasons of justice and security. But this stance evokes cries of racism, because a law that affects one group of people more than another is now racist. I guess we really shouldn't pass any laws unless they practically affect everyone. Note that this is not the same as applying to everyone. Another change has been expectations of foreign rulers.

It used to be that a visiting foreign ruler was hosted respectfully and acted respectfully. But now that is not the case. Mexican president Calderone was quick to chastise our government (Arizona specifically) for its laws. Of course, there is a rich history of demanding that illegal immigrants be given citizenship.

Times are a changin'.

It's because it's all political/big business driven

Why they believe this but they do, for some reason they believe that all Hispanics in the country will vote for the other guy if they do anything at all to rein in illegal immigration. I don't buy it. I don't buy that Americans who are of Hispanic ethnicity are all gun ho in concert demanding unlimited migration. I buy that special interests with deep pockets are claiming that, but the actual voters?

There is no way Arizona could enact such tough laws without the Hispanic vote in that state, so right there it shows voters who have Hispanic ethnicity are clearly not acting in unison and voting for this unlimited migration agenda.

It's really insane and we have bogus "studies" out there trying to claim everything from illegal immigration is a cost benefit to it will save the economy. I mean there is just no Academic integrity here at this point.

Just as an example, you can see studies showing how high school drop outs are a major cost to the U.S. economy and taxpayer. But, lordy, mention that illegals are in the majority high school drop outs, in so many words and on top of it, don't speak the language and you're a racist.

Look, a lack of education is a lack of education, whether it be from some Mexican high school or an American one, yet you cannot state any statistical facts without being name called and literally they are trying to rewrite the laws of labor supply for political reasons too.

Legal/Illegal Immigrant Workers

In my opinion it seems that employers now have preferences to hire Illegal Immigrants for blue collar jobs and Indian IT workers for White Collar computer jobs. So where does that leave the rest of us?

I work in IT and I see this first hand because I have worked in large organizations. The problem with opening up the doors for businesses to outsource to countries like India is that India has over a billion people!

Through various news sources I have heard our borders aren't very secure and Amnesty type programs for Illegal Immigrants. Other countries seem to be much more stricter for good reasons. Why would a country want so many uneducated immigrants? I feel not only do uneducated and Illegal Immigrants likely cost a country a lot of money but could also contribute to polluting a country like garbage dumping, various crimes, mistreatment of animals etc...

This country has always been open to immigrants but there get's to be a point where enough is enough and it starts to become very un-american for businesses to lay off American workers and outsource the jobs!

going to contractors

which is really bad because by using contractors there are no benefits but they can more easily stiff people out of pay and even pay them below minimum wage in realty. So, even beyond the discrimination against U.S. workers going on, they are also moving to contract to subvert employment law.

Not many discussions about IT jobs being outsourced on TV, Why?

Why can't I find one news channel that talks about all the computer jobs being outsourced on TV as a hot topic?

This is a major issue that is affecting millions of jobs and I would think at least 1 station would be talking about this on TV somewhere but I haven't seen it. Can anyone let me know if they have seen this being discussed somewhere on TV?

Maybe it's because the companies who own all these TV programs are outsourcing all of their IT departments off shore? Does anyone know?

geeks not a huge employment segment

I don't have the latest tally but it's around 4 million or ~1-2% of the total workforce. Then, they repress anyone who dare talk about labor issues on TV.

The illegal alien lobby went on a campaign to get Lou Dobbs off of the air, and if you notice most news shows don't report anything meaningful to workers.

They sure will promote and go on and on about the illegal alien agenda though on TV....

even though that agenda includes exposing U.S. workers, including tech labor to more displacement and wage arbitrage.

If you mention that, they will claim you're a racist and go on some censor campaign.

MSNBC is completely in bed with these people.
