Did you know it's Slavery Prevention Month?
How many even know it was Human Trafficking Prevention Month?
Well, it is and a story on H-1B being used as a human trafficking tool is how I even became aware of it.
A case that brought human trafficking to light in the Bay Area was the case of Lakireddy Bali Reddy, a Berkeley landlord convicted in 2001 for immigration fraud and trafficking minors for illegal sexual activity.
Reddy was exploiting the H-1B visa system to bring poor Indian workers into the U.S. as forced laborers. He brought them in claiming they were computer programmers and instead forced them to work in his restaurants and apartment buildings. Eventually sentenced to eight years in prison and forced to pay back $2 million, he was released in April 2008. (The Reddy family still operates many apartment complexes in the Berkeley area under the names of Reddy Realty and Everest Properties.)
In spite of all of the typical racist xenophobe claims on trying to silence anti-H1B websites, the real issue is some APEX ex-employee exposed their systematic labor abuses of H-1B and L-1 guest workers.
To read more about the attempts to silence abused H-1B and L-1 guest workers trying to speak out, read this post.
While noslaves.com is focused on U.S. workers, Americans, there is very much a real nasty other side to this story in that guest workers are systematically abused. They are sold the American Dream like a package of American cheese, try like hell to buy a guest worker Visa, only to be treated like crap, screwed out of thousands of dollars and as is well documented, paid less than American workers.
Not only is H-1B and L-1 destroying livelihoods and U.S. careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, it's not too good for the foreign guest workers displacing Americans either.

Isn't this the asshole who
Isn't this the asshole who owns or owned Pasand in Berkeley?
Put the guy in prison already. 30 years of screwing people over is enough; and he's doing it to other Indians. Doesn't the community care?
another scum
This is yet a different case but there are loads of these popping up and at least the DOL is pursuing some of the more brazen frauds and thefts. But there are so many I can't post them all!
