The Good Folks of Congress
Getting legislation passed that is in the best interests of the middle class, working people and the national interest has become increasingly impossible. It is only through public outcry that any bill has a remote chance of being passed.
We need your help in getting these bills passed. They are reforms for guest worker Visas and to create an oversight committee on trade. Please fax your Senators and Congress representatives and ask them to co-sponsor these bills.
Here are details on how to help.
- S.1035 : H-1B and L-1 Visa Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act of 2007 (Durbin-Grassley)
- H.R.2538 : To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide greater protections to domestic and foreign workers under the H-1B nonimmigrant worker program. (Pascrell)
- H.R.2504 : To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act with respect to the admission of L-1 intra-company transferee nonimmigrants. (DeLauro)
- H.R.548 : To establish a Congressional Trade Office (DeFazio)
There are a few valiant warriors in the House and Senate representing the national interest. Sadly, there are more Congressional scoundrels as well.

Outstanding Voices of the Middle Class
|
Bernard Sanders (VT-I) Mr Sanders has truly been a voice in the wilderness. His political career has been a fight for labor, worker safety, environment and government entitlement programs. The following set of links provides a feel for the broad scope of his efforts. I urge everyone to take the time to study his web site.

Thomas Lantos (CA-D) Mr. Lantos, the ranking Democrat on the house international relations committee has answered the call for VISA reform. Mr. Lantos said that in order to help keep corporations from "putting profits above people and above our national interest," he is a co-sponsor of H.R. 2702., bipartisan legislation that would put an end to the abuse by employers of non-immigrant work permits known as L-visas. The L-visa program was created in the 1970s to facilitate the temporary transfer of top managers from overseas companies to set up production lines in the United States. NOSLAVES.COM want to thank Mr. Lantos for his principled stand against the L-visa.

Rosa Delauro (CT-D) Rose DeLauro has sponsored Bill H.R. 2702 for L1 VISA reform. This bill will put an annual limit on L-1 VISAS, restricting outsourcing of L-1 workers, and includes layoff protection for American workers. This Bill represents a step in the right direction. |
Peter DeFazio (OR-D) Congressman DeFazio has been speaking out in the house and supporting anti-outsourcing, or as Bush now says "world wide sourcing", legislation. He is an active speaker against the China preferred trading status and has been active against HB-1 and L-1 VISA abuses for years. Congressman DeFazio's voting record speaks volumes that this man votes his conscience, whether popular or not!
