Andy Grove Gets It - What it Takes to Create U.S. jobs

Former Intel CEO Andy Grove is not someone who comes to mind when calling for action on U.S. jobs. Under his watch, Intel displaced U.S. workers with foreign guest workers, labor arbitraged, underpaid salaries, age discriminated and offshore outsourced manufacturing and jobs in droves. Their corporate culture was so notoriously vile, they even had their own personal protester, warning anyone who would listen to not work at Intel.

What happened I have no idea but Andy Grove just wrote the most specific and dynamite article, How America Can Create Jobs. He actually knows how to create high paying jobs because at one time Intel on it's path to the world's dominant computer processor maker, actually did manufacture in the United States.

Hire who?

Sometimes I see small eruptions of sentiments to hire only Americans (and legal residents of course). You'll see new sites like hireamericans.org arrive. While I certainly understand the emotional pull and the therapeutic value of these sites, in my opinion, they will have very, very limited success. There are a couple of limiting issues. First, this action is targeted at the very bottom of the food chain, meaning that it effects will be limited.

While Americans Go Without Jobs, India's Offshore Outsourcing Business is Booming

While Americans go without jobs, India's offshore outsourcing business is booming. In Technology companies are aggressively hiring as business prospects improve, we can see just how many American companies are creating jobs....in India.

Accenture will add 8,000 in India this year alone. That’s a 20% increase. Honeywell will also add 1,000 jobs....again, not in the United States, but in India.

Follow the Money - The Atlantic states the obvious reasons Americans are not going into STEM anymore

The Atlantic has a great post, It's about the Money Stupid on why Americans are not going into STEM, if they are smart and have a choice.

There is no Shortage of Scientists and Engineers

A new study has yet again shown what we have known for a long time. There is no shortage of Scientists, Mathematicians, Engineers and Technical people in America.

Outsourced & Homeless Blog

A new blog was brought to my attention, Outsourced & Homeless. The owner is chronicling his experiences looking for a job, while literally being homeless and oh yes, while possessing a whole lot of technical skills.

This is literally a person driving around in a beater car, sleeping in his car, in parks and so on, and using a blog to document his experiences.

Now the Pope is a racist?

The Pope echoes the wish of a white labour aristocracy in the West to snatch jobs and income away from much poorer but more competitive workers in Third World countries. That is repugnant in both economic and moral terms.

This quote is from Swaminomics: The Pope's moral blunders on outsourcing by Swaminathan S Anklesaria Aiyar in India's Economic Times.
