Shouldn't the Secretary of Labor Obey the Law?
Submitted by rebornindependent on Sun, 04/10/2011 - 18:11(I am posting this content with permission from a letter a colleague sent to me...)
There are a lot of deceptions in the H-1B law and misleading terms of art. Many of these were designed to give our legislators plausible deniability and cover for what they were legislating [in order to garner re-election campaign funds from the the high-tech industry, its trade associations, its officers, and its lobbyists].
NBC/WSJ Study Shows Americans Against Free Trade & Amesty
Submitted by David on Fri, 12/03/2010 - 08:18It must have been a real blow to the long time free trade advocating Wall Street Journal to discover after all these years of globalist propaganda the results of their survey have stayed so consistently negative. 47% of Americans think free trade has hurt the US. Only 23% say, "yippee, take our jobs". The rest like football. Not that I don't, but wake up, people!

The Need to Discredit The Law
Submitted by rebornindependent on Sat, 05/29/2010 - 06:17When it comes to illegal immigration, the Democrats have been dead wrong (on visas, both parties are in-the-wrong). This was the reason that I am now an independent progressive instead of a Democratic progressive. Things have changed a lot over my lifetime. When I was young, patriotism (also known as love of country) was a cherished trait. Today the word is used as a perjorative, often in conjunction with the word zealot. If you stand up for your country, you are now a nut.
Hire who?
Submitted by rebornindependent on Sat, 05/22/2010 - 06:45Sometimes I see small eruptions of sentiments to hire only Americans (and legal residents of course). You'll see new sites like hireamericans.org arrive. While I certainly understand the emotional pull and the therapeutic value of these sites, in my opinion, they will have very, very limited success. There are a couple of limiting issues. First, this action is targeted at the very bottom of the food chain, meaning that it effects will be limited.
New Study Confirms H-1B and L-1 just cheap labor, offshore outsourcing conduit, not about immigration
Submitted by mayday on Mon, 02/22/2010 - 12:39A new study has been put out by EPI that proves foreign guest workers are all about cheap labor, technology transfer and not about immigration into the U.S.
In Bridge to Immigration or Temporary Cheap Labor?, we have these reasons corporations are busy using foreign guest workers.
Poor Silicon Valley might have to hire Americans, God forbid, people over 35!
Submitted by mayday on Fri, 02/12/2010 - 01:19A new report screams and cries on how foreigners are not flooding the region in 2009.
Silicon Valley is no longer able to attract the foreign talent which has been its "lifeblood" and funding innovation through locally raised venture capital and public offerings "can no longer be taken as a given," the report said.
