India Firms Use Guest Worker Visas to Displace Americans
Submitted by admin on Wed, 01/26/2011 - 19:34Manufacturing news has a great article, Indian Outsourcing Firms Use H-1B To Displace U.S. High-Tech Workforce which overviews a new EPI study proving guest worker Visas are being used as labor arbitrage against U.S. workers.
The U.S. visa programs that allow companies to hire skilled foreign workers is "out of control" and is costing Americans hundreds of thousands of jobs, according to an analysis from the Economic Policy Institute. The H-1B and L-1 visa programs currently account for 1 million guest workers in the United States. Many of these foreign workers are employed at companies that have embraced offshore outsourcing of high-wage, high-tech workers as their primary business model.
GAO Reports H-1B Visa Program Needs Reforms

Just from the country of origin map alone, it's clear India is using the H-1B Visa to capture professional services, sector by sector. 47% of all H-1B foreign workers come from India.

The GAO reports 21% of all H-1B Visa applications are fraudulent, inaccurate. Staffing Companies avoid any scrutiny by adding layers of trading H-1B workers around to employers.

Senators Sanders, Grassley, Harkin, and Tester are trying to help U.S. workers. They have filed an amendment to the Small Business Lending Act to block companies from hiring foreign guest workers when firing competent and hard working U.S. workers.
The Amendment is S.AMDT. 4438, introduced to the Small Business Lending Fund Act of 2010 bill number H.R.5297.

India trying to make H-1B workers cheaper by not paying U.S. social security
Submitted by admin on Wed, 01/20/2010 - 10:54This is yet another astounding move by India. They are trying to claim H-1B and L-1 guest workers shouldn't pay social security on some nebulous claims they are not in the U.S. permanently.
The [India] government has been pursuing the social security agreement — that will allow Indians working under short-term contracts in the US to secure exemption from contributing to the American social security system.

Accenture will add 8,000 in India this year alone. That’s a 20% increase. Honeywell will also add 1,000 jobs....again, not in the United States, but in India.
